Avoid Overpaying on German & Austrian Motorways
Because of the new EU directives, which are aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, starting from 01/12/23 the amount of toll tariffs will be determined by the emissions of the vehicle. Germany and Austria are the first countries to implement this EU legislation.
Vehicles registered for toll collection in Germany must be classified in one of the 5 CO2 emission classes to differentiate toll rates.

If this is not done, the relevant domains may be blocked on your OBU or your vehicle may be assigned to the most emission-intensive vehicle class, which can significantly increase your toll.
This does not apply to vehicles registered before 01.07.2019. These are automatically assigned to class 1.
