5 weeks to go until safety & security declarations are mandatory for vehicles importing goods to the UK.

From 31st October 2024, it will be a legal requirement for hauliers to complete a Safety and Security (S&S) declaration for all UK import shipments.

Additionally, from 1st November, a valid S&S MRN must be added to your Goods Movement Reference (GMR). Without it, no GMR will be issued – no S&S MRN, no GMR, no boarding ferry.

Failure to complete the S&S declaration before arriving at the port of export can lead to shipping delays and potential fines.
